UN | Making Global Goals Local Business Iberia
On November 6, at the Culturgest Auditorium in Lisbon – CGD Foundation held the conference “Making Global Goals Local Business Iberia” of which SCOOP is a member, Mafalda Pinto (CEO) was invited by UN GLOBAL COMPACT PORTUGAL to be one of the speakers of the event, focusing her speech on GOAL 5 (Gender Equality) and GOAL 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
In this event, organized by the UN Global Compact and Global Compact Network Portugal and Spain, there were involve the leaders of local and global companies, the government, civil society and local organizations of the UN Global Compact to define collective actions for the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
This was a giant opportunity for companies to develop a more active position at the sustainability level and analyze the progress achieved so far to find more innovative solutions for the various industries, water management and energy through best practices and experiences.
This event brought together representatives of UN Global Compact, many specialists in sustainability, leaders of Portuguese and Spanish organizations, and culminated in the signing of the letter of commitment “Business Ambition for 1.5”, a movement that will allow organizations to demonstrate leadership in the struggle for climate change and at the same time become part of a global platform of organizations that makes a positive contribution to the sustainability of the planet while at the same time developing strategies for the growth and prosperity of their businesses.
